Tracing lace

Tracing lace, 2016-17, it is the first Couture installation at the artist’s Haymerle Road SPACE Studio, London, September 2017.  The drawings are based on hand-knitted lace and machine-lace fabric, trimming and embroideries from family archive, gifts and recent acquisitions. Graphite pencils; shellac gum ink; Washi (Japanese paper), Koso (mulberry); Arches watercolour cotton paper and others; threads, glass-headed steel pins, steel pins, bamboo canes.

Bermondsey Lace, 2017. 

Installation, paper, mulberry paper, lead pencil, ink, glass headed pins, thread, bamboo cane.  Drawing in two sections, based on an early 20th century camisole fragment, machine-made wide embroidered tulle, purchased in Bermondsey market. 1m52H x 1m21W and 0m97H x 0m43W.
